First Thursday Highlights Health and Wellness in Del Ray
ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA – During the September First Thursday, Del Ray highlights the wide variety of health and wellness opportunities in the neighborhood, with the the theme “Health And Wellness On The Avenue.” The monthly street festival takes place on Sept. 1 from 6pm to dusk along Mount Vernon Avenue. The event is free and open to all.
A wide variety of free health and wellness classes and demonstrations will take place, along with a scavenger hunt, live music by The Irish Breakfast Band, children’s activities, and more. Participants are urged to register for the free classes in advance; for registration information,visit here.

Participants are urged to bring a new teddy bear; those collected will be distributed to various City organizations — including the Alexandria Police and Fire Department, local hospitals, and the Alexandria Battered Women’s Shelter — to give to children in crisis. Donations will be collected at the Pat Miller Neighborhood Square.
Held the first Thursday of the month from April to September along Mount Vernon Avenue in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria, First Thursday is a series of free outdoor street festivals that bring the community together around a fun theme, benefiting a local nonprofit. This month’s event is sponsored by the Del Ray Business Association and Mind the Mat Pilates and Yoga.
